OUR STORY

Ana Pang came from Guatemala to the United States in the winter of 1981 when Ronald Reagan was President. The climate was very severe, the language was unknown, and the people lived and thought very differently from that of her Latin customs. These obstacles did not darken her dreams. With a student visa in her hand she registered to study English and overcame this first obstacle. She was not afraid to work and worked two or more jobs. That was how Ana continued in her search for dignity and a happier life. In an opportune time she began her family. Samuel and Alex, her two sons, are now brilliant alums of the University of Iowa. The crown of her numerous successes in her new country is Little Mexico restaurant in this beautiful city of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Little Mexico celebrated 20 years of happy existence in April 2019. To have entered into this world of business in a foreign country is an accomplishment without precedent. Ana did not let the harsh winter of 1981 get her down. With that same determination and courage she traveled to various parts of Mexico to educate herself in Mexican culinary arts. This knowledge can be seen in the variety of dishes now offered at the restaurant. 20 years of existence of Little Mexico has not been easy, but seeing the smile on her face is proof that giving her customers the best of herself has been worth it
